Singapore has one of the highest rates of myopia (short-sightedness) in the world.
According to Health Minister Gan Kim Yong, 65% of our current primary six cohort are short-sighted.
In comparison, only 30% of British children of the same age are myopic. Among Australian children, only 12% are myopic.
The rate of myopia in Singapore seems to get worse as the children grow older. Full story
