Train commuters will have little choice but to put up with trains getting more crowded in the next three years.
This is because projects to alleviate the overcrowding will take years to implement.
Relief will come when three projects undertaken by SMRT come to fruition:
    1. Upgrading of the current signalling system, which was installed in 1987.
In the current system, trains have to be at least two minutes apart. The new system will allow trains to be closer, at 100 seconds apart.
The system upgrading however, is expected to be completed only in 2018. Full story
