Shell Halts Singapore Refinery After 2-Day Fire

    Royal Dutch Shell Plc (RDSA) has extinguished a fire that raged for two days at its biggest oil refinery and is shutting processing units at the Singapore plant as a precaution.
    “The fire has been extinguished at Shell refinery at Pulau Bukom,” Shell said in a late-night statement yesterday. “However, there are traces of fuel vapour. We are prepared to shut down all refinery units if this is considered necessary from a safety perspective, with the exception of utilities.” The company was shutting units within the vicinity of the fire.
