Personalities will go some way in assuaging a public stifled by the Singapore squeeze of higher inflation, shrinking space and continuing anxiety against the presence of foreigners.
But it is the policies and politics that will make a long-lasting impact if Lee's government wants to write a new social contract with Singaporeans.
